It takes a special team to choke away two seasons in a row, but the New York Mets were up to the challenge. Stumbling to a 89-73 2008 record was good enough to get them into second place in the NL Eastern Division. That and purchasing playoff tickets gets you into the playoffs. At least their dreams weren’t dashed until the very end .. that 4-2 loss to the Florida Marlins. I hope the Milwaukee Brewers sent a thank you present.

The past few years the Mets have spared no expense to get the biggest names in free-agency to join their underachieving ballclub. Too bad none of it worked out.

On paper the Mets look good again for 2009. Moving from Shea Stadium to Citi field will feel weird. It remains to be seen how Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes, David Wright and Carlos Beltran produce in the new park. If they can do well in their new digs then the Mets may finally make the playoffs again this year, especially if Johan Santana can continue to match up with anyone else in the league. It’s finally here … the 141st anniversary of the famous Belmont Stakes, the 3rd leg of the legendary Triple Crown. If you happen to live in one of the many areas in the world that will not be broadcasting the race you need not worry … you can watch the Belmont Stakes live online.

This year’s race is going to be especially important because of the now-famous filly Mine That Bird, the shocking winner of the Kentucky Derby and one of the most successful underdogs in Thoroughbred racing history. Watch Orlando Magic vs Los Angeles Lakers 2009 NBA Finals Online

The Orlando Magic beat the Cleveland Cavaliers? WTF? Who was even talking about that possibility?. Dwight Howard, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue and the bunch gave Cleveland and old-fashioned whipping. King Lebron James wasn’t too regal as he damn near was swept out of the round … saved only by that last second miracle shot. And now the Magic get even stronger amid rumors of Jameer Nelson being available for the NBA Finals.

The LA Lakers are coming off an impressive 7 game series against the Denver Nuggets. Kobe Bryant as usual put the team on his back and won that game 7. On paper the Lakers should beat the Magic, but Orlando seems almost destined to win it all this year.

This should be a great series. If your are one of the unfortunate souls who won’t be able to see the games on TV don’t worry because you can still watch Orlando Magic vs Los Angeles Lakers 2009 NBA Finals online. Thank God for the Internet!
