They played under an interim coach in most of the time and ended 2-14 in the league. There were some big players in the team but they were utterly dissatisfied with management and everything. Many new comers were struggling to make their presence felt on field. None of them worked well though. Steven Jackson missed a few matches because of injuries and then came back to the team. He slowed down a bit but still played well and became one of the finest running backs of the league without any doubt. Both offense and defense was suffering and needs to improve a lot in 2009 season. In 2008, the offense ranked 30th in points and defense ranked 31st in points. Their cords and statistics are saying everything about their performance and they need to work really hard to make a strong come back this year.

In the off season, Steve Spgnuolo has joined St. Louis Rams as their main coach and promised to change many things in the team. He has also promised to bring back the winning spirit in the team and implement some new strategies to make their journey smooth in the league. Torry Holt and Orlando Pace will not play for Rams this year and the club soon needs to find out their proper replacement for 2009 season. This year, Rams are going to play all out offensive attack to win the matches. On the other hand, they are keen to be creative and building up an aggressive defense for 2009 season. As a whole, they are going to build their team well balanced and well coordinated to perform well in 2009 league.

Marc Bulger will lead the offense as quarterback and the club is hoping to get him fit for the whole year. Donnie Avery, Torry Holt, James Brown and Jason Smith will lead the offense along with Bulger. There will be a bunch of new comers and for them it is important that the experienced players perform well. They need to improve the running back this year and also needs to increase the speed of their offense to progress faster in the matches. Many things depend on the new comers too as they are enthusiastic and can boost the energy level up in the team which is very important.
